HAPPENINGS

It's been a heck of a 2013 so far. Left my job at SPACES in February, opened Miller Schneider Gallery on Waterloo in January, went back to school, and got married.

This October brings my work to Brandt Gallery.

Here's my statement:

Of late my work has been about manipulating non-traditional materials as commentary on the physical place I am at any given time. Latitudes and Longitudes is based on my two week transcontinental drive to study the living erosion of the United States.

FINALLY A POST AND IT'S ONLY 2013...

It has been a hell of a 2012 and I'm glad to be rid of it. In 2013 I will be focusing on family, augmenting my course load in order to transfer faster to (hopefully) Case Western where I plan to pursue my degree in Art History with a Business minor. In other news: Bryon Miller of Bryon Miller Photography and I have teamed up to open the Miller Schneider Gallery down the street from Beachland Ballroom on Waterloo Rd in Cleveland.
Meghan Dietz' show has been extended to March 6, 2013. :)

ECOLE

This was this first week of classes. I've got a lot to digest and it's been a slight challenge as far as time management goes. Every day until winter break I have either school or work. I love it, though. Two of my courses are online, Honors English and Philosophy, and one is hybrid (online and on campus), Art History. Most definitely these courses all tie in to one another. I have Drawing on Sundays; all day long. I can't wait!

In other news: the engagement ring finally arrived and he presented it to me and asked me again in front of his parents, which was so sweet I almost got a toothache. I didn't need a ring, I don't really wear jewelry, but he insisted and so I got one. It's beautiful.

Dad's chemo treatments and radiation are now over and so we wait to see how it all worked when he gets his CT scan, which should be in October some time. Getting actual dates and times out of my parents can be a challenge.

I understand my sister is flying home from Berlin again with her boyfriend in October. I look forward to meeting him face to face. We've met on Skype when my sister and I are chatting. Equally I look forward to seeing my sister again.

That's about it. We're crammed at work over the next couple months with event rentals, which I love to do. Tonight we have a wedding reception. The decor is so pretty. Of course, I'm gathering ideas for our reception in April.

With that, I'd better get ready for my 14 hour day.

Later, hosen!

UPCOMING EVENTS

I've been chosen as one of the 100 artists participating in Celebrate Las Vegas' Guitars for Autism. I'll post photos as best I can on the progression of my guitar, which was donated by Roger and Ann Warmuth. The event happens on December 28th. Don't think we'll be going as it is in Las Vegas, but who knows. October brings a two person exhibition with me and 3rd year sculpture student, Mike Helms at Root Cafe in Lakewood. Opening reception TBA. Later in 2013 I'll have a solo exhibition on the east side of Cleveland. That is also TBA.

WELL, HELLO DERE...

Hi all! It's been a while for sure. So, I've been dealing with a lot of personal hurdles of Olympic proportion, but those are all being handled.  Dad has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, but the good news is that it's contained. He's responding well to his radiation and chemotherapy, which is really positive!  Fifi, one of the kittens has some malfunctioning happening with her kidneys, but her bad numbers have gone done significantly so that's a HUGE relief. Also got my stepson enrolled in college.

So I'm registered to finish my BFA, which was the original plan when I moved back home. I had a quick sidebar thinking I might try my hand at culinary arts, but I couldn't see myself interning at a restaurant. I really couldn't, so here I am. I felt that I was lacking discipline and structure with my work.

I look forward to diving back into academia! My brain is ready.

The Missing Piece is in upcoming events. Check it!  In the meantime, I'm knocking out the 1,000 works for the walls of the gallery right now. The 1,000 works that will be hidden are nearly all done. Some have been hidden already, so there's that.
